How to Measure your Custom Boat Lift Canopy

Many boaters select a boat lift canopy to shelter their vessel from the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays as well as inclement weather. The protection offered by these products can add years of life to any boat. Replacement boat lift canopies manufactured by CoverTuff can be built for any specific make or model. Because these purchases are often non-refundable, it is important that the proper measurements be taken before ordering.

To measure a ShoreStation aluminum frame boat lift canopy, calculate the width as the measurement of the inside width of the bottom of the frame, in inches. To determine the length you order, measure the length of the canopy side rail, not including the ends, and add two feet.

The technique for measuring the width of a ShoreStation steel frame boat lift for a canopy, or canopies made by Hewitt or Newmans, are the same as for a ShoreStation aluminum model – but the method for measuring length varies.

With a ShoreStation steel frame boat lift canopy, count only the loose ribs of the frame, not including the end frames. Seven ribs equal a 19′ length, 8 equal 21′, 9 amounts to 23′, 10 add up to 25′ feet in length and so on.

For Hewitt and Newmans models, the length is determined by measuring the center length of the canopy frame on a straight flat plane and then using that measurement for the canopy order.
